1. What documentation do I need to bring?

All drivers must be present on collection of the vehicle and must bring with them:

  • Their photo card driving licence. If the driving licence is an old style non photo card paper licence we also require some valid photo I.D. Please note that we must be notified one working day in advance if the hirer holds a foreign drivers licence. Foreign licence holders or hirers with a non UK address must also bring a valid passport.
  • Some recent proof of address, e.g. utility bill or bank statement.  This must be dated within the last three months.
  • Their National Insurance Number OR a DVLA check code OR their printed licence details which can be retrieved from https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence (licence details must be printed within 72 hours before vehicle collection).

2. Does the vehicle come with a full tank of full?

Yes. A fuel deposit of £100 (£150 for 7.5T wagons) is taken for this. This is payable on collection of your vehicle. When the vehicle is returned we refill it with fuel. The cost of the refill is deducted from the deposit that we refund back to you, you are therefore only paying for the fuel used. If the fuel taken on the refill is less than the minimum delivery quantity* then we credit back the full £100 to the card used when initial payment is taken. Any fuel taken over the minimum delivery quantity* is deducted from the £100 to be refunded. The refund is done automatically after the vehicle has been returned and checked.

We only charge standard fuel pump prices for fuel. We do not penalise or charge any admin fee to customers that do not return vehicles with a full tank.

3. What payment methods do you accept?

Full payment must be made on a credit or debit card in the hirers name. We don't accept American Express, Switch or Visa Electron cards.

4. What is included in the rental cost?

Everything except the fuel deposit. It includes fully comprehensive insurance for one driver, breakdown cover, unlimited mileage and VAT. The hirer can pay more in order to reduce their insurance excess liability. Please phone or email for more information. This is explained further below.

5. Am I liable for any insurance excess?

Yes. In the event of any damage or theft claim on the vehicle or any third party claim made against our insurance policy. The excess is up to the value of £1000. The hirer remains responsible for punctures and negligent damage (e.g. kerbed wheels or tyres, damage to upholstery, cigarette burns, damage to aerials and mirrors etc.) The hirer is responsible for any mechanical repairs caused by failure to heed warning lights and gauges. Damage to any vehicle above windscreen height is the full responsibility of the hirer. We are able to reduce the excess liability – please contact our office for more details.

6. Can I return the vehicle out of hours?

Yes, we operate 24 hour drop off, as long as it’s within your agreed rental period as stated on your rental agreement. We have a secure key drop off box. The rental vehicle can be parked on site and the keys left in the secure box. Please note that vehicles dropped off outside of opening hours remain the responsibility of the hirer until they are seen and checked by a member of staff.

7. I have endorsements on my driving licence, is this ok?

If the drivers have any points/endorsements on their driving licence from with the last 5 years they will need to call and notify us prior to the rental.

8. Do I need a special licence to be able to drive a minibus/wagon?

Drivers of minibuses need to have category D1 on their driving licence.

Drivers of wagons need to have category C1 on their driving licence.

9. What age do I need to be to hire?

Hirers need to be aged between 21 & 75. If under 25 restrictions apply. Drivers over 75 are unable to hire from us.

10. How long are your hire periods?

The hire period is calculated on a 24 hr basis, usually from 8am or 5.30pm. Rental times can be adjusted to suit individual needs subject to availability.

11. Can I leave my car with you when I collect my rental vehicle?

We do have a few parking spaces available but these are available on a first come first served basis. Road side parking is available very nearby. If you are arriving by train, we are just a 5 minute walk away from the station but will be happy to collect you and bring you to our offices.

12. Can we have more than one driver?

Yes. Insurance for additional drivers is charged at £5 per day per driver. All drivers must bring the relevant documentation (see question 1.) and be present upon collection of the vehicle.

13. Do you provide accessories such as rope and blankets for moving furniture for example?

Yes, these items are free of charge and available on request. We also supply sack trucks if needed.

14. Do you supply other accessories such as child seats and sat nav?

Yes, these are available on request for a small charge.

15. Do any of your vehicles have tow bars?

Yes, our Transit Tipper, SWB (short wheel based) vans, Minibuses & 4x4 have tow bars. Please call our office to request these.

16. Do you have any automatic vehicles on your fleet?

Yes, we have large cars available with automatic transmission.

17. Do you operate a vehicle drop off service?

No. Vehicles must be collected and returned from our site at Carleton Business Park, Skipton.

18. Can vehicles be taken overseas?

Yes, selected vehicles only. Customers wanting to drive overseas must be aged between 25 & 70 inclusive, and have a full driving licence for 2 years. The vehicle must also be fully covered for European insurance and breakdown cover. Please contact the office for a quotation or for more details.

19. Do you have a cancellation policy?

If you wish to cancel your booking within 48 hours of your rental, you will incur a cancellation charge. If you cancel within 24 hours you will be charged for a full days rental, within 24 hours - 48 hours you will be charged £20. If we received no notification of cancellation, one days rental cost will apply.

20. Will you collect us from Skipton train/bus station?

Yes, just call us when you arrive and we'll be there to collect you as soon as we can.

21. I have an international drivers licence and/or have an overseas address, is this ok?

Please notify us of this at least 24 hours before your rental. You will need to ensure you bring your full drivers licence plus your passport.

*Minimum Delivery Quantity is currently 2L.
